![]() TRIBUTE TO VETERANS PROJECT - POLL RESULTS
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Tribute to Veterans feedback request. 95% absolutely agree that the Canada Remembers Tribute Project needs to continue, and if not via the traditional Air Show that has been in existence since 1995, then at the least, a version of it. Of those 95%, a full 90% of them indicated that even if the 'new' Tribute Project could no longer be held at the Saskatoon Airport with on-site aircraft static displays, then an aviation component with even limited aerial demonstrations would still be whole-heartedly supported. The replies also indicated that another 2% fully enjoyed the Air Show Tribute, but if the same level of activity could no longer be held as it has been for the past 15 years, then maybe it's time to consider an entirely different project. The remaining 3% indicated a dislike for the Air Show, referencing that the noise, pollution and traffic congestion was not desired, some stating that the event did nothing to honour Veterans. As a result of this resounding, positive community input, organizers will meet with participating Veterans groups to review new options, the challenges associated with these options and then release the results of a potential 'new' Canada Remembers Tribute; it is anticipated this release could be made as soon as late November, 2011.
Even though the summer Canada Remembers Air Show Ceremony did not take place in 2010, Saskatoon and area residents are encouraged to still attend the nation's largest indoor Remembrance Day Ceremony at Credit Union Centre, and help make it even larger than annual average of just over 8,000. Veterans and their families of all past and current conflicts will certainly appreciate your support and presence. Lest We Forget. |
